Weston Park Cancer Charity takes over Hillsborough Stadium and Bramall Lane for Together at Every Step partnership

Local football teams and fans have raised over £40k so far through the partnership.

This March, Weston Park Cancer Charity will take over two iconic football stadiums through the Together at Every Step partnership.

On Sunday 16th March, the charity will head to Hillsborough Stadium for the Sheffield Wednesday vs Sheffield United Steel City derby.

Volunteers will be stationed throughout the stadium, with digital collection tins and donation buckets.

Later in the month, on Saturday 29th March, the charity will take over Bramall Lane for the Sheffield United vs Coventry City game.

The charity’s ‘Together at Every Step’ partnership with Sheffield Wednesday, Sheffield United, and Barnsley Football Club raises awareness and funds for people living with cancer.

Since launching in 2021, the partnership has raised over £40k. This brilliant sum has helped to fund world-class cancer research, support services, and enhancements to the hospital environment.

Bekah Anstey, Corporate Partnership Manager at Weston Park Cancer Charity, said:

“We’re so excited to be taking over not one but two iconic stadiums this month for the Together at Every Step partnership.
“The rivalries between these teams are fierce, but they are set aside when it comes to raising much-needed funds for people living with cancer.
“We’re profoundly grateful to the teams involved in the partnership and would like to thank their fans for their generous support.”

Owls’ Head of Community, Marcus Brameld, said:

“We’re proud to be making a difference for local people and their communities through the Together at Every Step partnership.
“One in two of us will face a cancer diagnosis, which is why we’re doing everything we can to support Weston Park Cancer Charity’s vital work.”

Dave McCarthy, Head of Operations at Sheffield United Football Club said:

“We’re looking forward to once again welcoming our friends from Weston Park Cancer Charity to Bramall Lane later this month, when we take on Coventry City.
“Directly or indirectly, we can all expect to be impacted by cancer one day and I hope that Blades fans will dig deep on their way into the stadium and give what they can to support this amazing charity.”
