Feel Good Floristry: Lucy Ashton's story of Healing and Helping with Weston Park Cancer Charity

Join Lucy Ashton at Weston Park Cancer Charity and discover the joy and therapeutic power of floristry. Let’s escape, breathe, create, and laugh together.

For Lucy, teaching flower arranging at her shop, The Dandelion Clock, was always a highlight. Her classes were more than just lessons—they were therapeutic sessions where participants could escape, breathe, create, and share laughter.

The positive feedback from her customers reinforced Lucy’s recognition of the calming and healing power of floristry, an idea she wanted to develop. Five years after opening her shop however, Lucy faced a cancer diagnosis at the age of 43. With the unwavering support of Weston Park Cancer Centre and its dedicated team, she made a strong recovery. Her beloved flower shop not only survived but thrived, reflecting her resilience and dedication.

In 2022, Lucy decided to take a new path. She sold her shop and decided to specialise in workshops and tribute flowers with an environmental and sustainable focus. She also trained to also become a Funeral Celebrant, working with people to create a celebration of life, telling someone’s story both with words and with flowers. Lucy still had her long-held desire to explore and develop the therapeutic benefits of floristry sessions and this vision led her to launch Feel Good Floristry, a concept which she is proud of and passionate about.

Now, Lucy is bringing Feel Good Floristry to life in collaboration with Weston Park Cancer Charity. Together, they’ve created a wellbeing course specifically designed for people affected by cancer. Through these sessions, Lucy is honoured to offer support to those living with a diagnosis and undergoing treatment, helping them experience the healing power of nature and creativity.

“The response to the Feel-Good Floristry sessions at Weston Park Cancer Charity Support Centre has been just what I hoped it could be!” said Lucy after the third of the monthly workshops.

“The sessions are always fully booked, it is wonderful to see how the attendees relax, have fun, laugh and just lose themselves in creating something beautiful for a couple of hours. It makes the difference which I hoped it would.”
