Brachytherapy and MRT suite refurbishment

Thanks to charitable support we were able to transform the Brachytherapy and MRT suite at Weston Park Cancer Centre, in Sheffield.

A hospital room with a bed, tv, wash station and various equipment.

How we helped

"After being admitted to the same room 5 years ago, the room has improved beyond belief. Everything has been renewed – a new window fitted. The wet-room was brilliant and the interaction with the staff very welcoming – a vast difference from my last visit. A great big thank you to everyone who contributed to the improvements."

Brachytherapy is a type of radiation therapy which can require patients to remain in hospital for days at a time - sometimes more - and in specially-designed rooms to protect others from radiation which a patient's body can give off following treatment.

As part of the refurbishment of this suite at Weston Park Cancer Centre, we purchased many items to help with patient comfort inlcuding;

  • Smart TVs
  • Recliner chairs
  • LED dimmable lighting
  • Kitchen
  • Wifi

In the first 12 months, more than 100 patients were admitted to Weston Park for treatments relating to brachytherapy & nuclear medicine who benefitted from being inpatients in the refurbished rooms.
